Construction on The Green & 49th St.

Thanks to a generous donor, the City has been able to contract with Rosehill to relocate and install a new pathway on The Green. The construction is set to begin tomorrow, June 25, 2024.

The planned location for the new path is loosely marked with spray paint on The Green. The new pathway will be cut Black Hills flagstone, which should create a smooth walking surface. The current pathway areas will be reseeded as part of the project work. The current pathway stones will also be removed, and some of that stone may be used for some walls along sections of the pathway.

The remaining stones will be used for the construction of a barrier wall along the public sidewalk on the north side of 49th Street over the creek culvert. The barrier wall construction will most likely start the week after the construction begins on the path on The Green. This barrier wall project is possible in part thanks to a financial contribution from the Westwood Hills Historic Foundation.

For these specific projects, the city has allowed construction work to begin earlier than our noise ordinances allow in order to complete the projects on time with minimal disturbances to our residents and shops.

Please note that these construction projects may cause some minor traffic obstructions for short periods.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience as we work to keep Westwood Hills the Most Beautiful Little City in Kansas.
